The idea behind True Purple Designs began many years ago when I was a new bride. On my wedding day I was fortunate to wear the handmade garters that my beloved grandmother and great grandmother wore when they were married. They were both expert seamstresses, and had also made my bridal accessories by hand. I loved the beauty of the lace, satin, and ribbons, and learning the sewing techniques they used to turn them into beautiful creations. I have since always dreamed of opening a store where I could create garters that captured the old world elegance of their designs.
I specialize in creating traditional and not-so-traditional keepsake garters for all occasions from prom, to bachelorette, to bridal. I lovingly handcraft each garter using high quality fabrics, embellishments, and lace. I also enjoy creating beautiful heirloom garters and accessories from cherished family wedding gowns.
While my grandmothers are not with me anymore, they continue to inspire me. In fact, many of my product photos feature special family heirlooms including my grandmother's crocheted tablecloth, china pieces from my aunt, mother, and great grandmothers, and my mother's bridal gloves.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day.
My grandmothers, Rose and Theresa, the inspiration behind True Purple Designs. Below are their bridal garters which are 92 and 71 years old.
