This one really tugged at my heart...All of my garters are special, but this one was extra special because of the story behind it. The silver and black satin on the keepsake garter is fabric from the favorite skirt of the bride's best friend, who recently passed away. The set was commissioned by the bride's extremely sweet and thoughtful niece, who wanted her aunt to feel as if her best friend was walking with her on her wedding day.
For her "something blue", a heart made from the skirt fabric was sewn into the garter band with light blue thread. It was a very special honor to create such a beautiful tribute. As I was making it, I imagined the love that these friends had for each other and how through this garter, they would be together for the wedding.
The garter was on its way to its destination in Texas when Hurricane Harvey arrived. Mail service was disrupted and the package was stuck in Houston for many days. After a lot of praying, the garter miraculously made it to the bride's niece on the morning of her wedding.
I wish the bride and her family nothing but a lifetime of rainbows and sunshine. Thank you so much for entrusting me with this precious keepsake. It was truly an honor.
